Tatacoa Desert Expedition Plan for 4 days

The 4-day Tatacoa Desert expedition plan will be carried out as follows:

Day 1:

Starting at 2:00 pm, you will be welcomed in Villavieja , settled into your hotel, and then begin your cultural and historical Town Tour of Villavieja at 3:00 pm. This tour will include visits to the Paleontological Museum, the Totumo Craft House Museum, the Santa Barbara Chapel, the Nuestra Señora del Socorro Church, the Malecón located on the banks of the Magdalena River, and finally, a boutique shop in Villavieja to purchase handicrafts, souvenirs, or mementos.

After 6:00 pm, we will depart for the Tatacoa Desert Astronomical Observatory , where you can enjoy beautiful celestial phenomena. There, you will participate in an interactive talk led by an astronomer who will perform celestial mapping. You will learn about Greek mythology and cosmology, and then enjoy stargazing through a telescope. Afterward, you will be transferred to your hotel and overnight stay.

Day 2

On the second day of this Tatacoa Desert tour , we'll have an early breakfast and then head to the Tatacoa Desert to begin a guided tour of the Tatacoa Desert. We'll visit sites such as Cardón, the Cusco labyrinths, Ventanas, the highest point in Tatacoa, also known as the Sand Zoo, and Los Hoyos. The tour will end at a mineral water pool.

During the trip, you'll have optional visits to places to buy traditional sweets made with goat's milk and others made with cactus and aloe vera. The tour will end at your accommodation in the Tatacoa Desert .

The afternoon will be free to enjoy the services of the tourist inn or activities not included in the plan, such as horseback riding or renting bicycles or ATVs.

Day 3:

After breakfast, we'll begin the tour of the Valley of the Xylopalos, a spectacular hike through the gray-hued Tatacoa Desert. There, you'll be able to admire beautiful landscapes such as the Snake Pass, the Senorita Strait, and the Valley of the Beautiful.

During the tour, you'll also be able to observe the xylopalos (wood logs), ancient tree trunks that populated this area millions of years ago and have survived to this day as fossils. We'll then transfer to your accommodations and have the afternoon free to enjoy the inn's pool or participate in activities not included in the plan.

Day 4:

Breakfast will be served, and at the agreed-upon time, we will travel to Villavieja to enjoy a canoe ride along the Magdalena River to learn more about the local flora and fauna. Afterward, we will visit the craft beer brewery, where you can enjoy an unforgettable experience amidst beautiful murals. At the end of the day's program, the four-day Tatacoa Desert tour will conclude.
