Leticia is the capital of the Amazon , but it is also the border between Colombia, Brazil and Peru, so being here you can hear people speak Portuguese and as another curious fact, in this city the shops and vendors receive the coins of the three countries.

Leticia is a city worth knowing; It's funny, because it does not appear in the travel guides for sightseeing in Colombia , but it's the kind of city that when you know it, you do not want to leave it, it's amazing the tranquility, peace and energy that transmits being in the middle of the gigantic Amazon . Amazonian World Ecological Park

The Mundo Amazónico Park is one of the things that you can not miss in Leticia , in 2011 it won first place in the National Entrepreneurship Competition in the Sustainable Use of Biodiversity category. It is located at the kilometer seven, on the outskirts of Leticia , and is a surprising place where you can learn a lot about plants and native and medicinal products, and indigenous traditions. The Mundo Amazónico Park is a place for the whole family and you can choose between ecological walks with guides, a visit to the botanical gardens, ecotherapy tour, interactive cultural scenarios and much more.

 

Tanimboca Nature Reserve

The Natural Reserve Tanimboca located less than 10 kilometers from Leticia , is an area of protected jungle ideal for ecotourism in Colombia . In it there is a serpentarium where you will see native species of the region, you can make different ecological tours, and practice extreme sports such as canopy and kayaking.

This is definitely one of the most amazing activities you can do in Leticia ; navigate the entire river and dive deep into the Amazon jungle while admiring the beautiful landscapes and bird watching,you can get to see the famous pink dolphins and lizards among others. Generally this tour can be contracted at a tourist agency or even at the hotel where you stay, however, if you want to save some money, you can go directly to the dock and negotiate with some of the boats that are there, it is not at all expensive, approximately 70,000 COP, and in addition to an extraordinary trip with river bath and lunch included.

If you want to know and admire the largest lotus in the world, and Victoria Regia, the plant from which the lotus flower is born, you must go to this natural reserve located 25 minutes from Leticia . Here you can enjoy all the fauna and flora by canoeing in the park or hiking.

Knowing and touring the Isla de los Micos is one of the most attractive and favorite activities for tourists, as it is about walking through trails while learning about the different species of monkeys that live there. But the most fantastic thing is that these beautiful and curious little animals rush on tourists, which makes it an incredible experiencee, and if you want to have more contact with them, take out a banana and feed them.

It is the most important park of Leticia , and like all the Amazon is a broad green lung in which you can see a beautiful fountain in the center of the park, a church to which you can enter and climb up the tower to have a better view and in the afternoon appreciate the arrival of thousands of singing parrots that mix in the trees.
