The Tatacoa Desert is a must-see destination if you're planning to travel to Colombia and explore Huila . It's located in the department very close to the municipality of Villavieja . This destination isn't actually a desert, but rather a tropical dry forest. The climate is semi-arid and semi-desert; it's a place where rainfall is very low, and where daytime temperatures can reach up to 40°C and drop to as low as 24°C at night.
With this one-day tour to the Tatacoa Desert, we'll enjoy discovering the various wonders hidden behind this dry, very dry forest . We'll visit the Cusco Labyrinths, Los Hoyos , Mirador del Cardón , Mirador de los 7 Colores, the castle, and the Valley of the Ghosts. We'll have the opportunity to see the best destinations in Huila .

We begin the tour at our meeting point in Villavieja, and from there we will depart for the Tatacoa Desert. Our first stop will be El Cardón, where we will see the distinctive cacti of the area. We will then continue on a 90-minute hike through the Cusco Labyrinths until we reach the highest point in the Tatacoa Desert, known as Ventanas or Sand Zoo. We will continue our tour by exploring Los Hoyos. This hike will take approximately 50 minutes, and at the end, we will arrive at the mineral water pool where you can take a relaxing dip. During our excursion to the Tatacoa Desert, we will visit places where you can taste and purchase typical regional sweets.
